Materials:
four cupboard doors of equal size
scrap wood (1 x 1)
wood glue
hand or jigsaw
miter box
wood screws
wood glue
drill
wooden spindle (optional )
outdoor latex paint
Steps:
1. Cut four 1 x 1 pieces the length of the cupboards and secure them along the outer edges of the inside of two doors with screws. Place a third door at a 90-degree angle next to one with cleats and attach it with screws. Join the last door in the same way to form a box.
2. Cut more scrap wood to the size of the box top using a miter box for a finished look. Pre-drill holes and join the molding together in a square with glue and screws .
3. Place the square of molding on top of the box and secure it from the inside with two short pieces of wood to act as braces. Screw one end to the molding and the other to the box.
4. Cut a piece of wood for the base and notch the corners for a smooth fit. Nail it in place.
5. If desired, cut a spindle in half lengthwise and glue small pieces to the center of each door for decoration.
6. Paint as desired.
