Add cup hooks to the top of another balustrade for a jewelry organizer.
Materials:

scrap wood
drill (3/4" paddle bit and countersink bit)
long wood screws
nails
scrap molding
nail set
3 balustrades
paint
sandpaper
miter box
candles (1 pillar and 2 tapers)
paint

Steps:

1. Cut base top to desired length and pre-drill three holes for the balustrades in it. Cut two 1 x 2 pieces to the same length and set the first cut piece on top to form the base. Use a countersink bit to drill three holes in each of the 1 x 2 pieces and screw them to the wood.

2. Miter four molding pieces cut to the base dimensions and nail them to the edges . Use a nail set to make them flush.

3. Screw the balustrades on from the bottom.

4. For a decorative touch, slip a mitered frame over the base of the two small balustrades.

5. Drill a hole in the top of each small balustrade with a 3/4-inch paddle bit , which is the bottom width of the tapers.

6. Paint the entire piece as desired. Once dry, use sandpaper to create a distressed finish.

7. Add the candles.
